Governor of Georgia Brian P. Kemp, Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Commissioner Pat Wilson, Chairman of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners Tom Crow, President of SK Battery America Junho Hwang came together for the signing ceremony took place at the office of the Governor of Georgia state on June 25<sup>th<\/sup> (local time).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 13pt;\">The company\u2019s original 1.67 billion USD investment in the first plant will soon create 2,000 jobs in Jackson County, and its additional expansion this time is expected to give about 600 more job opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1246\" src=\"https:\/\/askinno.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/200626_\uc870\uc9c0\uc544\uc8fc\uc138\ub808\ubaa8\ub2c8_\uc774\ubbf8\uc9c0_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1180\" height=\"541\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\">\u25b2Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp and President of SK Battery American Junho Hwang at the signing ceremony on June 25<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 13pt;\">In regard to this, GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson commented, \u201cWe are grateful for SK innovation\u2019s growing partnership with our state. Their continued expansion here is a testament to Georgia\u2019s strong partnership with South Korea, along with our pro-business environment, unmatched workforce training programs, and robust logistics network\u201d. He added, \u201cI would like to thank our economic development partners for their continued commitment and dedication to creating jobs and opportunities in Georgia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 13pt;\">With an annual capacity of 9.8 GWh, SK Innovation\u2019s first EV battery manufacturing plant in Georgia is under construction and expected to start operating in 2021. The firm will break ground on its second plant here, which is set to produce 11.7GWh a year, in July. When the second plant in Georgia goes into mass production in 2023, SK Innovation will reach an annual global capacity of 71GWh, consolidating its position as one of the largest EV battery producers in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-887\" src=\"https:\/\/askinno.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/200428_\uc81c2\ubc30\ud130\ub9ac\uacf5\uc7a5\ud22c\uc790\uacb0\uc758_\uc774\ubbf8\uc9c0_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1180\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\">\u25b2SK Innovation\u2019s first battery plant in Georgia is under construction<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 13pt;\">Despite the ongoing global economic downturn and the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, SK Innovation keeps making bold moves to invest for the future. The company is expanding its battery production base not only in the U.S., but also at home and in Europe, China. Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai-Kia Motors, and Ford Motor Company are among the customers of SK Innovation\u2019s battery business. The company\u2019s further goal is to be among the top 3 global players in the EV battery market, aiming to produce 100GWh by 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 13pt;\">\u201cSK has proven to be a great community partner,\u201d said Chairman of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners Tom Crow. \u201cWe are pleased to hear that they continue to be successful in gaining market share in the electric vehicle battery business and that they continue to expand in Jackson County.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Nanum Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 13pt;\">On the other hand, in May, SK Innovation donated 400,000 US dollars to Augusta University in Georgia to support the local community to fight the COVID-19. The company\u2019s contribution was used to help the state continue to enhance its testing capacity while reducing exposure for Georgia\u2019s doctors, nurses, and medical staff through at-home screening.
