Dear respected members of SK Energy,<\/strong><\/span><\/strong>

As the year of Black Rabbit, the year 2023 has newly begun. As the rabbit leaps high, I hope all the members of SK Energy take a big leap of hope this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Looking back at 2022, SK Energy could achieve many meaningful results, including the greatest financial performance, thanks to the devotion of all the employees, despite the ever-changing management environment. Above all, I sincerely appreciate each of the members of SK Energy for your dedication to fulfilling the duty in your position.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This year, the management environment is expected to be more volatile than ever. The continued rise of interest rates in major countries led by expanded inflation is making the global economy sluggish, while the hegemonic war between China and the US and the continued war between Russia and Ukraine are drawing clouds of uncertainty over the global economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Moreover, it is expected that the world will undergo the transition to deglobalization, where the era of globalization and peace for the last 30 years comes to an end, making way to the time of conflicts among blocs.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In such waves of upheaval, we have to transform ourselves in more innovative ways for our business portfolio in order to keep pushing forward with the Deep Change we pursue.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Especially, this year will be the third year since we reformed ourselves as a dual CIC system. It is necessary for our company to get accustomed to the drastic paradigmatic changes in the energy and mobility area, pushing forward our Green Transformation in a steady but active manner.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

R&S CIC will stick to the plan for the Net Zero Roadmap, continuing CO2 reduction. At the same time, the advancement of strategy to cope with refining margin will help to overcome the obstacles in management. Also, R&S CIC will follow the upgraded version of the Financial Story and actively carry out business transformation for Lower Carbon & Green Growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The company’s Ulsan CLX will play the global tech center role with its differentiated technologies, moving forward to the goal to be the \u2018Green CLX\u2019 that leads Net Zero, \u2018Smart CLX\u2019 that combines all the AI\/DT potentials, and \u2018Safety first CLX\u2019 where no critical accident or serious disaster occurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As for the Happiness Community Center, which was born from the mutual contemplation of the members last year and will begin construction this year, I hope the center will be the space for the happiness of and communication among the members that everyone can pride oneself on.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

P&M CIC will keep up with building up a viable structure for the continuous growth this year, based on the oil marketing business, which has been strengthened despite of challenging market environment, such as the sharp rise in oil prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the truck union strike, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In particular, P&M CIC’s eco-friendly Energy Solution project (fuel cell, hydrogen, and solar panels) and eco-friendly Mobility Platform project, conducted based on the company’s R&C (Resource & Capability), will establish the foundation for expansion and get in full swing, making 2023 the beginning year for P&M CIC Financial Story.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Besides, SK Energy transferred its carbon emission reduction certification center to Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI). The center was the first voluntary certification system for carbon reduction in Korea. By doing so, the carbon emission reduction certification center in KCCI will officially open this year, steadily strengthening the key potential for voluntary carbon market and leading the business of voluntary carbon credit. At the same time, SK Energy is going to promote the ESG management by rallying all the employees\u2019 consensus and participation about the ESG management so that the concept will be internalized to all of us.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will come lots of unexpected obstacles this year, while the fundamental challenge in the oil business will be harsher. However, we have the boldness to overcome all the troubles we may encounter. Also, we have faith that we can cultivate our own happiness by evolving and developing ourselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If we face incoming challenges with this boldness and faith, I have no doubt that we can break through all the challenges in 2023 and harvest the fruits for a more optimistic future.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Last but not least, I wish you to participate in the company\u2019s effort for continuous growth and happiness, as well as the effort for innovation to create more corporate value and make the company a merrier place to work.<\/span><\/p>\n
