Eyes closed. Building a fire? As natural as breathing. I even know which spot at which valley gets the best shade in the afternoon. Yeah, I&#8217;m&nbsp;<em>that<\/em>&nbsp;person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But no matter how dialed-in my routine got, there were always things I just&#8230; accepted as impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wet hair after swimming in the stream? Air dry it is. Want to run a fan at night? Better keep one eye on that portable battery percentage. Too hot to sit outside during the day? Either run the engine for the AC, or just suffer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I always packed three or four butane canisters. The portable battery was never enough. I assumed that was just the deal \u2014 the unwritten rules of car camping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I saw a video that broke everything I thought I knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Someone blow-drying their hair. At a mountain stream. With an actual hair dryer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8230;Excuse me?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A hair dryer had never even made it onto my packing list. In plain terms:&nbsp;your car has a built-in outlet (220V in Korea) that can power real appliances.&nbsp;<strong>The car becomes one giant, mobile power bank.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the setup? Almost embarrassingly simple. Plug the V2L adapter into the charging port \u2014 and that&#8217;s it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The model I rented \u2014 the&nbsp;<strong>IONIQ 5 Long Range<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 packs an&nbsp;<strong>84 kWh battery<\/strong>. That&#8217;s roughly equivalent to a week&#8217;s worth of electricity for a family of four. A far cry from anxiously watching a portable battery creep toward 20%.
