SK Group expands its energy businesses across the nation in order to enhance farm household income and improve the rural environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

On March 3rd, SK announced that the construction of the 300kW photovoltaic power plant located in Myeonghak Industrial Complex, Yeondong-Myeon, Sejong City, has been completed and is in full operation. SK also stated that the solar plant will produce electricity that will contribute to local residents\u2019 income while turning the rural area into a good place worth living.
\nThe 300kW Sejong solar plant, which was completed on March 1st, has an annual capacity of 372,519kWh. It is enough to provide 300kWh to 100 households per year.
\nThe electricity produced by the solar plant will be sold to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and will be a source of revenue for the region.
\nSK has recently established energy models to create added value based on clean energy and to enhance the standard of living for rural areas.
\nSK has set up solar power generation infrastructure around Yeondong-Myeon, Sejong City in cooperation with Creative Korea Sejong to improve the quality of life for residents.
\nSK E&S installed 3kW solar panels and energy storage systems on the roof of 17 village halls in the area to provide electricity.
\nIn this area, there is a large smart farm named \u2018Doore Farm\u2019 that has adopted the Internet of Things (IoT) network to control the growing environment for farm produce. Doore Farm is shared by all residents and has a 15kW solar system to produce electricity for agriculture.
\nThe solar power plant in Sejong City came as an eco-friendly energy town that was set up last December in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do has emerged as a model for win-win energy business that creates both energy and a source of income for rural households.
\nIn addition, a livestock manure management facility and sewage treatment plant, once considered as undesirable facilities due to their nasty smell, were turned into core systems to produce city gas and electricity.
\nBio gas from livestock manure is processed into city gas for local residents. Thanks to this, last winter residents saved 42 million KRW per year with their heating bills decreasing 50% on average.
\nThe remaining manure is converted into compost and liquefied fertilizer for sale.
\nSK E&S also installed a 343kW solar plant at the sewage treatment plant to produce electricity, which is also sold to KEPCO as a source of income for residents.
\nSK found that the eco-friendly energy town in Hongcheon brings about economic effects worth 150 million KRW. Indeed, there has been a visible effect as the number of residents in the area has increased from 127 people in 57 households to 140 people in 70 households after the completion of the energy town project.
\n\u201cClean energy brings about three effects: it saves expenses, raises income, and increases the population influx.\u201d said Lee Man-woo, the head of SK Group Public Relations Team. \u201cWe will create additional successful energy business models with the Task Force for New Energy Industry under SK.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
