SK E&S Attends \u201cCES\u201d for the First Time in 2022, presenting Carbon Reduction Solution.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– SK E&S will attend \u201cCES 2022\u201d, the world\u2019s largest electronics and IT show.
\n– The company will suggest green energy products and technologies including hydrogen, renewable energy and energy solutions as solutions to reduce global carbon emissions.
\n– Plug Power, SK\u2019s business partner in the U.S., will jointly attend at the event and showcase its hydrogen fuel cell power pack free of carbon emissions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SK will offer solutions to reduce global carbon emission at \u201cCES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2022\u201d, the global stage for innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n

On January 4(Local time in Korea), SK E&S said it will attend \u201cCES 2022\u201d, the world\u2019s largest electronics and IT show, held from January 5 to 7 (local time) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attending CES for the first time, SK E&S will showcase its products jointly with SK Holdings Co Ltd. and other subsidiaries of SK including SK Innovation, SK Telecom, SK Hynix and SK ecoplant under the theme of \u201cCarbon Emission Reduction\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

With their pledge to contribute to reduce 200 million tons of carbon emissions or 1% of the global target for carbon emission reduction by 2030<\/span>, SK\u2019s subsidiaries will present a wide range of technologies used to reduce emissions as part of their efforts to join the journey to \u201cNet Zero\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

SK E&S has been leading SK Group\u2019s green energy business and will introduce its projects and technologies for the new energy sector such as hydrogen, renewable energy and energy solutions at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a subsidiary in charge of SK Group\u2019s hydrogen business, the energy company will first introduce its strategy to build a green hydrogen value chain that includes production, distribution and consumption of hydrogen.<\/span> SK E&S aims to have an annual production capacity of 280,000 tons of hydrogen by 2025-30,000 tons of liquefied hydrogen coming from by-product hydrogen and 250,000 tons of clean hydrogen (50,000 tons of liquefied and 200,000 tons of gasified hydrogen) which removes CO2<\/sub>. It plans to supply the hydrogen to users through around 100 liquefied hydrogen fueling stations and pipelines. By expanding the use of hydrogen to the mobility sectors such as passenger cars, buses, forklifts and drones as well as to fuel cell power plants, the energy provider plans to help create the hydrogen eco-system early. It also has a plan for production of green hydrogen generated by renewable energy using electrolyzers.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the event, SK E&S will also present its strategy to establish an ecosystem for green energy where it will produce green renewables including solar PV and wind power and improve consistent performance in supply of renewable energy through energy solution technology.<\/span> The energy company is operating and developing renewable energy power plants with a capacity of 2.7GW. It has been investing in Key Capture Energy (KCE) and Rev Renewables, industry leaders in energy solutions in the U.S., increasing its competitiveness in the energy solution sectors such as energy storage system (ESS), distributed power sources of micro-grids and mobility solutions focusing on electric vehicle batteries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Especially, SK E&S will jointly display<\/span> an actual hydrogen fuel cell power pack called \u201cGenDrive 3000\u201d produced by Plug Power, its global partner for hydrogen business<\/span>, at \u201cCES 2022\u201d. Hydrogen fuel cell packs are free of release of harmful substances including CO2<\/sub>, offer benefits of high energy efficiency and durability and are expected to be used in the mobility sectors including hydrogen-powered forklifts as well as in a variety of industries in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

SK and SK E&S invested 1.8 trillion won in Plug Power, becoming the largest shareholder of the hydrogen company last year. SK E&S plans to create a joint venture with the hydrogen provider and to build \u201cGiga Factory & R&D Center\u201d in the metropolitan area of South Korea which will provide South Korea and Asia with hydrogen fuel cells and electrolyzers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the era of the carbon neutrality, SK E&S will offer concrete solutions to reduce carbon emissions as a responsible energy company and continue its commitment to making the solutions viable,\u201d said Choo Hyeong-wook, CEO and President of SK E&S.<\/span><\/p>\n
