\u25b2 SK Innovation delivers a donation to Iv\u00e1ncsa city public foundations at Iv\u00e1ncsa City Hall on August 4th<\/sup> (local time). The event was held after the Hungarian government lifted the mandatory to wear masks indoor and outdoor.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n On August 4 (Hungary local time), SK Innovation delivered 15 million forints (about USD 50,000) to the local public foundations in Iv\u00e1ncsa, Hungary, which was selected as the location of SK Innovation\u2019s third EV battery plant in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n After two EV battery plants in Kom\u00e1rom, Hungary, in January of this year, SK Innovation decided to build the third one in Europe with an annual production capacity of 30GWh in Iv\u00e1ncsa, Hungary. The event was held after the Hungarian government lifted the mandatory to wear masks indoor and outdoor.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The beneficiaries are three public foundations: Iv\u00e1ncsa City Public Foundation (Iv\u00e1ncs\u00e1\u00e9rt K\u00f6zalap\u00edtv\u00e1ny), Our Children Foundation (Gyermekeink\u00e9rt Alap\u00edtv\u00e1ny), and Iv\u00e1ncsa City Large Families Association (Iv\u00e1ncsai Nagycsal\u00e1dosok Egyes\u00fclete). The donating funds will be delivered in two consecutive year, 2021 and 2022. Each public foundation plans to use the funds to improve the local environment in Iv\u00e1ncsa, support education and cultural activities for the youth, and provide daily necessities of the underprivileged.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the delivery ceremony, Moln\u00e1r Tibor, Mayor of Iv\u00e1ncsa, shared that \u201cWe are glad that SK Innovation decided to choose Iv\u00e1ncsa as the location of the company\u2019s third European plant for EV battery manufacturing, which is known as the largest investment in the history of Greenfield investment in Hungary.\u201d \u201cWith SK innovation\u2019s interest and support for the local community, Iv\u00e1ncsa City has become so energetic than ever,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In November 2017, SK Innovation invested about KRW 850 billion to build the first EV battery factory in Europe with an annual production capacity of 7.5GWh in Kom\u00e1rom, Hungary. This first plant started production from January 2020. In addition, SK Innovation is building a second battery factory in Kom\u00e1rom with an annual production capacity about 10 GWh by investing about KRW 945 billion. The construction of the second plant will be completed this year, and commercial operation will start from next year. Last month, in recognition of the future economic and job creation effects resulted from the operation of the second Kom\u00e1rom plant, SK Innovation received a subsidy of EU 90 million from the Hungarian government for the construction of this plant.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u25b2 SK Innovation’s EV battery plant located in Kom\u00e1rom, Hungary<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n On the other hand, as part of its ESG management, SK Innovation has been committing in social contribution activities in Hungary 2019. Starting by donating 15 million forints (about USD 50,000) over two years to three public foundations in Kom\u00e1rom city, SK Innovation also delivered 16 million forints (about USD 53,000) to help the local community fight against COVID-19. In addition, in June of this year, SK Battery Hungary members participated in tree planting volunteer activity near the Kom\u00e1rom factories.
